I look at the picture and smile. Unbelievable that it has been three decades
On the 25th of January 1995 I was 22, he was 25. By current standards this is young, in the past it was an average age for getting married. It was a very simple ceremony and short reception with very few guests.I don't remember much besides that it took tons of pins to put my long hair up. I felt there was so much metal I could have functioned as a lightning rod. I had the highest heels I have ever worn. He wore the same suit he graduated high school in. The cake was delicious - creamy and fruity.
Three decades later it's just two of us again. We have raised three beautiful daughters who have moved out.
The thirtieth anniversary celebration was simple too - dinner in a restaurant and theatre to follow. No one else. The cake was sweet - meringue and raspberries.
We danced when we first met. We still go dancing together.

Happy anniversary to you both. Thirty years is a milestone. Wishing you many more. In October, we will be celebrating our 45th. Arjeha
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary to you and your husband! Last year, we celebrated thirty years with little fanfare on the date, then went to Scotland and Ireland over the summer. Here's to another thirty with little fanfare! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the pic you shared with us. This will be 43 years for us this year. I'm not sure how we arrived here either. I love the pic of the two of you and the details you shared with us. I'm not sure that I've ever seen a pic of your husband before. Congrats on this milestone, Terje! May you have many more happy, dance filled years to come!
ReplyDeleteSo dear. Keep dancing!
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of your post. The connections between then and now and the photo speak between the lines of much love. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteTerje, Happy Anniversary! I loved reading your story and seeing your photo. May your life be filled with dancing and joy.
ReplyDeleteTerje, happy anniversary to you. Your sweet way with words--the hair pins making a lightning rod, your husband's high school suit, the two descriptions of cake, and dancing. Wow. Just so lovely!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! I had many connections to your story - the hairpins, the young age, the celebrating now along as my daughters are grown and on there own. Thanks for including the photo!! Such a beautiful bride!!
ReplyDeleteI also love the simplicity of your post. It’s as if your wedding and this 3 decade mark are brackets, and what they embrace is your family of creation. I also love the details you remember, and how you always care about the cake!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! I love when people share about their anniversaries. There are so many big moments and small moments that are within those decades. You look lovely in your photo. Thank you for sharing this celebrating with us.
