I am a huge fan of lists. Making lists of lists is extra exciting. When I saw the ten top three lists, I felt kiddy as a child. I dropped my original idea (getting a year older) and decided to draft the lists yesterday evening. I thought it would be a quick write. I didn't know it would actually be a challenge. First deciding what lists to make and then limiting things to three and putting those in order. I ended up writing a bit beyond my bedtime. It would have made sense to stop and continue the next day, but I couldn't. When I finished I was ready to laugh. I am so predictable.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun bunch of lists! Tea was definitely a common theme...but anyone who reads your blog knows about your love affair with tea. ;) Happy birthday! Hope you did something fun to celebrate today!
ReplyDeleteHappy Brithday! It seems you gave yourself a fun writing gift of time last night. Thnaks for sharing as it might need to be a format I use sometime, too. The reader learns SO much about you through these lists!! So fun! My husband shares your birthday. He turns 60 today! Go Aries!
ReplyDeleteTerje,
ReplyDeleteFascinating lists. I think I’d have quite the challenge thinking of ten. I noticed themes in your lists: books and tea. They go together, right? What would you include as number 11? And Happy Birthday! The 50s are the best decade.
First off, Happy Birthday! This list idea is great I agree that it is probably harder to do than you would think. First you need to narrow and then limit. It takes some serious thought.
ReplyDeleteI keep forgetting to add my name above. arjeha
DeleteI definitely did this a few years ago, but am glad to have it top of mind! I have never watched a British crime show, so now I have 3 suggestions. And: you like tea!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I love your group of lists and the insight they offer to you and your interests. I love writing lists, but typically they're more planning lists. I like the idea of "top" lists, but I think it might be tough for me to come up with ten topics. Could be fun though! Again, I hope you've had a wonderful birthday!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, Happy Birthday!! Isn't it amazing how much we learn about someone from simple lists. I may try this after I read the other posts.
ReplyDeleteI love the list of lists. Top three things I noticed:
ReplyDelete1. We are now the same age! Happy Birthday!
2. You have the same birthday as my husband - must be a good day for good people.
3. We both like books, tea and theatre - oh, and flowers!
Happy birthday again - and thanks for the good lists.
Happy Birthday! I love your lists and hope you got to enjoy many of those favorites as you celebrated today!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I have been thinking of you all month--I turned 50 a couple weeks ago, and I remember so clearly the posts you wrote about turning 50--you've been my mentor as I thought about my birthday. I love that you described your experience of writing these lists. I also love how these lists fit so well with the picture I've developed of you from your posts over the years. Here's my maybe top three list for why I love your posts: 1. beautiful writing 2. thoughtfulness 3. inspiring in terms of writing as well as teaching as well as life
