Last Saturday my hubby, my daughter and I went to buy a Christmas tree in a nearby gardening centre. The place had several rooms decorated from floor to ceiling with Christmas decorations, lights and ornaments. Oh my, how much variety there is nowadays for decorating a tree - massive sparkly flowers, pink feathers, shiny bugs, glittery birds, antic-looking toys, bling-bling butterflies and of course Christmas balls and lights in different sizes and colours.
We had come only for the tree because we have all we need for the decorations. We have many well loved ornaments - some decades old, some self-made, some gifted and some bought because we liked them. No need for anything new. Yet, when we came across a pair of owls, we couldn't leave them in the store. Seeing them together was like looking into the mirror. Home they came with us and were the first ones to hang on the tree.
